The Titanic, also known as, “The Unsinkable Ship” was built in Belfast , Ireland by the Harland & Wolff Company. Construction began 9 months after her sister ship, the Olympic, and she was launched 7 months after the Olympic. The Titanic’s first voyage was also its last. Its first voyage abruptly ended April 15th, 1912 at around 2:00 am in the morning when she sank into the depths of the Atlantic Ocean.

The Titanic took approximately 3 hours to completely sink into the Atlantic Ocean. The Titanic was not prepared for the ship to sink, she didn’t have enough lifeboats, and the water was -2ºC where she sank which ended numerous people's lives. The amount of people who lost their lives in this tragic accident was more than 1,500. “The Unsinkable Ship” was sinkable.
The Titanic sinking is still a mystery to this day and there are many theories why she sank, sank so fast and had such a large loss of life. There were alot of reasons why she sank including :the lifeboats & the lack of knowledge on how to use them, the lack of binoculars, hitting the iceberg with the side of the ship, and ignoring warnings of possible icebergs. What we do know is that there were 6 warnings that there would be an iceberg on her route, but why did the captain (Captain Edward Smith) ignore these warnings? We might never know the answer to that question ,but this is just the beginning of the Titanic's story.
