Iceland Overview

From its stunning landscape, glaciers, and northern lights; It is not suprising that Iceland is one of the most popular places to visit in the world. In fact, over 700,000 people visited Iceland just in 2021. Some of you may be wondering how Iceland was formed, and it is belived that Iceland was formed by a pocket of magma that sat beneath the island. As lava rose to the surface of the ocean, it cooled and gradually turned into an island beginning about 70 million years ago. Another big reason why Iceland has such a high tourist count nowadays is because it will not be here forever. The truth is, Iceland is lowly sinking. Due to its placement on tectonic plates, Iceland is beggining its slow and inevitable decend into the ocean, tourists are simply getting their chance to visit iceland before it's gone.
